On Saturday, Dec 15, the Knightstown Panther wrestlers traveled to Wapahani High School for the Raider Rumble. The team came away as the tournament champions as a team with 7 wrestlers winning their weight class. This brings their season record to 10-5.
In his season debut, 106lb freshman Caiden Smith was 4-0 on the day, winning his weight class. Other champions included, 120lb junior Jared Richardson, 138lb junior Nick Walsh, 170lb sophomore Ben Newby, 182lb sophomore Liam Orcutt, 195lb junior Aiden Orcutt, and 285lb sophomore Sam Thomas, all winning four on the day. Also having success on the day was 145lb junior Nick Lawson and 132lb junior Justin Lane with three wins each, and 113lb senior David Peck and 152lb junior Landon Carmichael both had two wins in the tournament.
Head Wrestling Coach Robbie Hadley was thrilled with the success of his team. “We knew that we had the potential to take home a championship, and today it materialized,.” Hadley said. “I’m very pleased to have seven wrestlers, more than half of our varsity lineup, go undefeated and take home a championship.”
