The Panther wrestling team picked up three wins on January 7th and 8th. On Tuesday, the team took on Union City and Lapel; and on Wednesday, Tri High School.

On Tuesday against Union City, the Panthers secured a 45-35 victory. After giving up 3 first period pins to start the match, the Knightstown team swung back into the lead due to a strong showing by the heavy weight classes. Aiden Orcutt (12) collected a pin, and Liam Orcutt (11) toughed out a close 3-2 decision. DeAndre Rose (11) and Parker Schock (11) took forfeits to bring the score to 21-18. After losing the lead momentarily, Caiden Smith (10) helped secure the win with a pin, as did Kalen Carter (12), Jared Richardson (12) and Kenny Hanna (11) with forfeits.

Later that night against Lapel High, the Panthers achieved a 47-34 victory. Landon Carmichael, Aiden Orcutt, Liam Orcutt, and DeAndre Rose secured the team lead and never relented with dominating pins. Noah Cook and Jared Richardson picked up forfeits. Late in the match, Kenny Hanna pinned his opponent and Senior Justin Lane dominated 18-2 for a Tech Fall, his first such win of the season.

On Wednesday night at the historic Hoosier Gym the Knightstown squad took on the short-handed Tri Titans. After an entertaining exhibition match between teammates, the Panthers took seven straight forfeits against the Titans to take a 42-0 lead. Tri got on the scoreboard with a pin at heavyweight, but Noah Cook took another forfeit. Kalen Carter and Jared Richardson capitalized on their Senior Night with first period pins. Tri took the last exciting match of the meet, but the Knightstown Panthers had dominated 60-9.

The Panther Wrestlers are in action again Tuesday 1/14 at Eastern Hancock at 6 pm.
