On January 18th, the Panther Wrestling team competed at the Tri Duals in Straughn. The depleted squad ended up the day with a 2-3 record on the day.

In early action, the team took on the Centerville JV team. Highlighting the round was Senior Jared Richardson pulling a last second reversal to come back and win 6-5. Also showing senior leadership was Justin Lane who dominated his opponent at 145 lbs to a first period pin. Four other Panthers picked up forfeits to narrowly defeat the Bulldogs 33-30.

In round two, the team took on a solid Evansville Memorial team. The Panther squad was outmatched in all but one weight class, where Justin Lane again collected a pin to continue his hot streak. The final score was 72-6 in favor of the Tigers.

Round three the opponent was the Junior Varsity squad of Avon High. The Panthers rebounded by getting pins from Deandre Rose, Kalen Carter, Caiden Smith, and Landon Carmichael. Freshman Jesse Turner had a forfeit during his first day on varsity , and Addison Jones won by Injury Default when his opponent was unable to continue. Despite their strong showing, the Panthers dropped a close match 39-36.

The round four opponent would be Wapahani High school, who the team defeated earlier in the season. DeAndre Rose started the match with another pin, but the rest of the round was a back and forth showing.after trading forfeits and pins. Wapahani ended up in the lead with a final of 42-36.

During the final round of the day, the Knightstown team took on the Cambridge City Eagles. The last match of the day was a quick one, with all but one match decided by first period pin or forfeit. Highlights came from Junior DeAndre Rose finishing his strong showing with yet another pin, and Kalen Carter making short work of his opponent with a fall. The final score was 42-36 this time in favor of the Panthers.

The Panther Wrestling team is in action again at the Tri-Eastern Conference Tournament on January 25th The meet will be at Northeastern High School at 9 am.
