The Panther Wrestling squad posted a 1-4 record at a very competitive New Castle Invitational on Saturday.

Against North Central High School the team recorded a 24-54 score. Senior Landon Carmichael at 170 led the team with a with a first period pin, while Liam Orcutt, sophmore Caiden Smith, and junior Kenny Hanna picked up forfeits. Seniors Nick Walsh and Justin Lane both wrestled well against the tough competition, but lost by decision.

Next the Panthers took on the Pendleton Heights Arabians, losing 27-54. Freshman Noah Cook, and Nick Walsh both secured pins, as well as the Orcutt brothers, Aiden and Liam. Senior Jared Richardson(126) gutted out a tough match and won 9-5.

In the third round the Knightstown Wrestling squad secured a win against a tough Fort Wayne Southside team, 40-33. Senior Kalen Carter wrestled up two weight classes to collect a pin at 126 lbs. Kenny Hanna at 132, Nick Walsh at 138, and Aiden Orcutt at 182 all led the team with pins. Seeing his first action during the day, Senior Addison Jones (160) picked up his first win with a pin in 1:19. Justin Lane at also shut out his opponent at 145 to a 8-0 win. 106 pounder Noah Cook recieved a forfeit to add 6 team points, and Liam Orcutt at 195 dropped a close but very competitive match 6-3.

Next against Frankton High School, the Panthers lost 24-57. Noah Cook controlled his opponent to a pin, as did Justin Lane and the Orcutt Brothers. Senior Nick Walsh had another very competitive match, but fell 6-3.

Finally, the Panther Wrestlers lost 23-56 against Beech Grove High School. Kalen Carter lost by decision 9-3 and Justin Lane recieved a tech fall 19-3. However, Nick Walsh again dominated his opponent to a 17-0 win, and Aiden Orcutt picked up a pin. Liam Orcutt was leading 11-2 after 2 periods before his opponent took a medical default, securing his win.

On the day the Panthers were led by Aiden and Liam Orcutt, who both collected 4-1 records. Senior Nick Walsh and Freshman Noah Cook Posted 3-2 records, and Jared Richardson went 2-1 at New Castle.

The Panthers are in action next at the Panther Wrestling Invitational on December 14th at 9 a.m. at the Knightstown High School gym.
