Knightstown tennis extended their winning streak to nine in a row by knocking off Southwestern at home, 4-1. The Panthers are playing with energy and confidence and it shows in their results.
AJ Dalton got the Panthers off to a good start against a tough opponent at #1 Singles, winning 6-4, 6-2. Garrett Dalton dominated the #2 Singles court winning 6-1, 6-1. Jarred Porter followed suit at #3 Singles dropping only one game out of 12, winning 6-0, 6-1.
The only loss of the night for the Panthers came in a long 3 set battle at #1 Doubles. Collin Ferree and Dallas Edwards opened by winning the first set 6-0, but dropped the second set 7-6 in a tiebreak. In the third and final set, Southwestern closed the court for their lone victory, winning 6-2.
Ethan Yoder and Dylan Chandler remained undefeated on the season, winning #2 Doubles 6-1, 6-0. The Panther Junior Varsity team also kept their record unblemished, winning their 10th match in a row. Cooper Davis won handily at #1 Singles, up 8-1, while Brady Howell pulled out a victory in a tough match at #2 Singles, winning 8-7 in a tiebreak. Caleb Pyle and Alex Cook also won in a doubles exhibition match, up 8-0.
The Panthers continue a busy week 4 match week with Anderson Prep on Wednesday, another home match against Greenfield Central on Thursday and wrapping up the week on Saturday in the Smash Cancer Fundraiser at Blue River.
