Knightstown High School
Shenandoah High School
The Panthers Varsity tennis team came up just short in a closely contested 3-2 match that went down to the wire against Shenandoah. AJ Dalton lost a hard fought match 3-6, 4-6 at #1 Singles, but Seniors Collin Ferree and Dallas Edwards countered by dominating #1 Doubles 6-0, 6-0. The Panthers then went up 2-1 behind a 3 set win from Ethan Yoder and Dylan Chandler 4-6, 6-1, 6-0. Jarred Porter dropped a tough match at the #3 Singles court 5-7, 2-6. With the match tied 2-2, it all came down to freshman Garrett Dalton at #2 Singles. In a marathon 3 hour battle, Garrett lost the first set 5-7, battled back to win the second set 6-2, but lost the 3rd set 3-6. Given the fact Shenandoah is one of the top three toughest opponents the Panthers will face all year, we played well.
Equally encouraging, the Panther Junior Varsity swept all 5 courts. Freshman Brady Howell opened the streak winning #1 Singles 8-3, then Cooper Davis followed suit winning #2 Singles 8-1. Caleb Pyle won #3 Singles 8-2, while Austin Campton and Trevor Cook won #1 Dubs 8-3. Alex Cook and Connor Keith finished the sweep by dominating the #2 Doubles court 8-0.
