Knightstown High School
Knightstown hosted the county tournament and faced Tri High for the 2nd time this week. And for the 2nd time we outhit them, but made a few more mistakes. The Titans took advantage of a lead off walk by Carmen Cleek, and then collected a single by Peyton Moore, and Kristen Falck, and then Kierston Conyers followed that up with a deep blast to take a 4-0 lead in the first 5 minutes of the game. Courtney Carlton came on to pitch and the Titans scored one more on a drop fly ball by the Panthers to lead by 5 in the top of the 1st inning. The Lady Panthers got 2 back in the bottom of the inning after back to back to back singles by Vivian Goodpaster, Sammi Eaks, and Jess Butler. The Pitchers and defenses held steady the rest of the game and the Panthers never could get quite over the hump, losing 10-5. Peyton Moore pitched the complete game for the Titans and to get 12 hits off of her and some other hard hit outs, that was good preparation, mentally and physically for Sectional. The Panthers defeated Blue River in the consolation game 21-5, as Georgee Lawhorne pitched the complete game victory, and 18 players got significant playing time. Sammi Eaks had her 8th Home Run of the season. Knightstown is 14-7 to end the regular season, and will face Winchester in their first game of the Sectional, Tuesday at 7pm, at Union County.
