Game Recap

The Lady Panthers hosted Wes Del tonight and took control early and never looked back. After Georgee Lawhorne retired the side in the 1st inning the Panthers struck for 4 runs in explosive fashion. Vivian Goodpaster, who signed earlier in the day with the University of St.Francis and had her future Coach in attendance led off with a line drive single. Lawhorne followed that with a triple off the fence. The next batter Sammi Eaks sent one over the Centerfield fence for her 7th Home Run of the season. Robyn Clark came up and hit another triple off the fence for the Panthers. Carmen Cleek was robbed by a diving catch by the center fielder, but Kiley Breece came up with a nice 2 out hit to score Clark for the 4-0 lead. The 2nd inning was more of the same as Lawhorne mowed down the lineup again and the Panthers scored 5 more with doubles by Lawhorne and Cleek, a single by Kaitlyn Jackson, another single by Breece and a couple of Wes Del errors to take a 9-0 lead. Wes Del did have back to back hits to plate a run in the 3rd inning, but that was all they would get on the night as Lawhorne and the defense were on their game. Lawhorne recorded 5 strikeouts over 4 innings and Courtney Carlton came on for the Save in the 5th inning. Leading the Panthers on offense were Goodpaster and Cleek both with 3 hits, and Lawhorne and Breece both collected 2 hits. Goodpaster and Lawhorne both scored 4 runs, and Eaks and Cleek both had 3 RBIs. Knightstown is now 12-4 and have a big week next week with 6 games, with many challenges in preparation for Sectional, including at Tri High, and at Home vs. Anderson Prep, Richmond, and New Castle for Senior Night. They also host the Henry County tournament Saturday, playing Tri High again in their first game.
