Knightstown High School
The Lady Panthers swept a DH at Cowan Saturday, winning game one, 11-1, and game two, 17-5. In the 1st game the Panthers exploded as the first 3 pitches of the game were hits from the Lady Panthers, a leadoff double from Vivian Goodpaster, a Home Run from Georgee Lawhorne, and a roped double from Sammi Eaks off the 3rd base bag. The Panthers never looked back as Lawhorne pitched the complete game victory. She also led the team in hits with 3. Goodpaster, Robyn Clark, and Kiley Breece all had 2 hits on the game. Jess Butler, Kaitlyn Jackson, Trinidie Newby, and Eaks all had 1 hit apiece… In the 2nd game the Panthers jumped out with 4 runs on back to back singles by Lawhorne and Eaks, and a Home Run from Butler. Carmen Cleek laced a double and scored on a couple pass balls. Courtney Carlton doubled to lead off the 2nd inning and Goodpaster got hit by a pitch, followed by an infield single by Lawhorne to load the bases. Eaks hit a hard ground ball to the Cowan SS, and she misplayed it and it led to 3 runs from your Panthers. Amongst several errors and walks and doubles by Breece and Carlton the Panthers took a 12-2 lead after 2 innings. Unfortunately for the Panthers, Goodpaster hit a ball off the top of her foot and spraining it. She continued to play for another inning and finally was pulled from the game. Hopefully ice and rest can get her ready for a very competitive week ahead. The Lady Panthers went on to win 17-5 as Carlton pitched a complete game. Leading the hitting was Cleek with 3 hits, including a triple, Eaks with 3 hits, and Lawhorne, Butler, and Andi Skinner with 2 hits apiece. The Lady Panthers are now 8-3 and Host Centerville Monday, and go on the road to Shenandoah Tuesday.
