Game Recap

The Lady Panthers faced Anderson Prep tonight, and although didn’t play their best, still prevailed 20-9. Without 2 core Seniors, Georgee Lawhorne and Sammi Eaks, due to academic commitments, the Home team had a little trouble finding their groove early. Courtney Carlton pitched the first 2 innings and held the visitors scoreless for 2 innings, but had a tough 3rd inning that led to 4 runs by Anderson Prep. Carmen Cleek came on in relief and struck out 3 batters to make it a 4-4 game heading into the bottom of the 3rd inning. Jess Butler led off with a Home Run to start a 10 run rally to take control of the game. Cleek went the rest of the way for the win, striking out 7 in the process. The best thing about tonight was that we were able to play 17 players, with 11 different players scoring, and 11 getting at least one hit. Goodpaster had 3 hits and 4 RBIs, while Cleek, who also had 4 RBIs, Butler, Robyn Clark, and Kiley Breece had 2 hits apiece. Also collecting a hit in the game were Arynn Darling, Andi Skinner, Silvia Panizzuti, Trinidie Newby, Kaitlyn Jackson, Emily Adams, and Makenna Leisure all had one hit. The win left the Panthers at 13-5 for the season, and they host Richmond on Thursday, and New Castle Friday for Senior Night. Please come out and support your Lady Panthers as they prepare for Sectional against some quality 4A opponents.
